Overview
Hardy, vining, winter annual legume, attaining a height of 24 inches when planted alone and higher when planted with a tall companion crop that provides structural support for climbing. Plant in the fall. It is cold-tolerant, flowers in April and ripens seed in May-June. Used as a cover crop, green manure, pasture, silage, and hay. It is capable of contributing large amounts of soil organic matter and nitrogen to a following crop. Fixes 90 - 120 lbs nitrogen per acre.
