I have been using these for a number of years. I put them over blueberries, grapes, cherry, apple and pear trees. I drape them half way over the top of a row of blueberries or grapes, walk around to the other side still holding the netting and drape it over the top to meet the other side - clipping them together with clothes pins. Since these are 17' wide, there is plenty of netting to flow down to the ground. For my semi-dwarf fruit trees, I will clothespin the netting to branches as high as I can go, wrapping it around the whole tree. For the apple trees, this is enough to deter birds and squirrels, as long as they haven't had a taste of the fruit. I have to get them on early! For my pear tree last year I also added another cut piece over the top and pinned it also. This was mainly because I was late in netting the tree and birds/squirrel found they liked pears enough to keep working at getting in. I also use fruit bags once the fruit gets large enough to cover without the risk of it falling off. I have taken one 100' length and cut it into 50', 25' and 25' to use on some individual blueberry bushes or over the pear tree.
This netting has been a real fruit saver. I am able to cover my blueberries first and then put that netting over the concord grapes. Peaches, cherries and pears are also covered early and then removed to place around the apples.
The netting is very supple, is easy to handle but will tear if you pull hard on it if it gets stuck on a branch. But patience and gentle handling will help these to last a long time.
