Overview

This compost blend is the basis of all the soil mixes Vermont Compost makes. Raw materials are assembled in windrows, monitored for temperature and air supply, and turned as needed. All composts are tested for maturity before blending and vending, and are free of live weed seed.

This Manure Compost can be used in a variety of ways: field application, hoop houses, garden plots, raised beds, landscaping, perennials, for fruit trees as well as a compost tea.

  • Directions

    Prep For Use: Use as-is or mix with warm water to create a compost tea.
    Handling: Avoid drastic changes in moisture/saturation. Store under cover, out of direct sunlight. Protect from weed seed, petroleum products, and other contaminants.
    Supplemental Fertility: Regular incorporation of compost during the fall and/or spring will generally meet fertility needs for sustained production. Application specifics depend on existing fertility, soil condition, and crop rotations. Manure Compost can be mixed up to 50/50 with your existing media.
    Storage and Shelf Life: Store in a neutral environment which encourages moisture retention and protects from UV light. For optimal performance of living soil we suggest using it within 8-12 months from date of purchase.

Our composting process meets the National Organic Program(NOP) standard requirements and our products are approved by Vermont Organic Farmers (VOF), the certification branch of NOFA-VT.
