Retail Partner Feature - Country Farm and Home Supply

This month we are highlighting our partnership with Country Farm and Home Supply in Pittsboro, NC. We have been working with Melinda and her team for more than a decade to provide quality materials to growers in Central North Carolina. 

Here, Melinda Fitzgerald shares the history of Country Farm and Home Supply:

"Country Farm and Home's story started in the early 1950s when the store opened as the Farmers Exchange. Farmers brought their grain to be milled and railroad cars brought fertilizer, lime and coal for the farmers. In 1987 Southern States purchased the Farmers Exchange, and six years later, Dallas Hurley purchased the store, naming it Country Farm & Home Supply. Although the hammermill is long gone and the only remaining hint of the railroad is the old trestle out back, we’ve worked hard to preserve the bones of this old feed store. Customers walk the original tongue-and-groove oak floors, smell the grain, and often reminisce about visiting similar stores as children with their parents and grandparents. Many of our older customers even remember once working here as teenagers when the feed bags were 100 pounds! As we grow and change with the needs of our customers, we try to preserve the traditions that continue to keep this store a unique destination: a friendly atmosphere, good customer service, and personalized attention. We’re happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for, and if we don’t have it here, we’ll try to get it for you."

Country Farm and Home is a one-stop shop for farmers, with over 5000 uniquely different farm-related inventory items. From seed trays to wax boxes, they have everything farmers need to grow, from beginning to end. In addition to stocking a wide selection of products from Seven Springs Farm Supply, Country Farm and Home also offers hard goods such as fencing, poultry supplies, landscape fabric, greenhouse plastic, silage tarps, and more. They also have a full line of beekeeping supplies, animal health products and livestock feed.

Country Farm and Home coordinates seasonal bulk orders for their local farmers:

• bunch onions and organic seed potatoes in February
• bee packages and NUCs in March
• organic sweet potato slips in May
• organic strawberry plugs in September
• organic garlic in October
• native bare-root plants in the winter

You can receive updates about these bulk orders by subscribing to their newsletter. Country Farm and Home also now offers multiple delivery routes to serve farmers across much of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Northern South Carolina. They continue to expand their routes based on customer demand. Customers interested in delivery service are encouraged to take an online delivery survey.   

Several times a year, Country Farm and Home coordinates cooperative purchasing events for Organic Farming Supplies from Seven Springs. Through these events, patrons can special order any of the materials we stock and have them shipped on a shared truck to Pittsboro for easy pick-up. This helps reduce everyone's carbon footprint! Keep an eye out for specific delivery dates in February, May, August, and December. The next delivery is scheduled for May 30th - click here for the order form. Country Farm and Home also brings regular resupply trucks from Seven Springs every 3-4 weeks throughout the year.
